This Great Recession Was Not A Surprise

The FED. Monetary policy. Inflation. Housing Bubbles. The Recession (which began in Dec. 2007). The devalued dollar. A costly foreign policy.

Back during the 2008 Presidential race, only one candidate was talking about these things:

Ron Paul.

He was laughed at by other candidates. He was dismissed by the media. His supporters were called crazy.
But, just think of what things would be like right now in 2010 if everyone would've listened to us libertarian lunatics. But, people were too busy watching the Dow climb to 14,000 and flipping houses for thousands of dollars in profits.

This Great Recession was not a surprise. Watch these video clips from the Republican Presidential debates back in 2008. Ron Paul knew where we were then...and what was coming. Why? Because he understands monetary policy and free market economics. Please ignore the fact that Glenn Beck is in the first clip...that was from CNN in 2007. He wasn't the "Glenn Beck of Fox News".

Luckily, there is a chance he may run again in 2012. For those of us who supported him in 2008, we must show people this video. Send it to everyone you know. People are waking up, and they need to know we have the chance to elect someone who can lead us out of this mess...because he knew it was going to happen. The push for 2012 starts now.

I Laughed So Hard, It Hurts

**UPDATE**
Drew Carey has announced that he will be starring in a new improv show on GSN next spring. The episodes will be shot in Las Vegas in January and February. That's all I know for now. Not sure about the cast yet, but hopefully we will see some of our favorites! Due to this fantastic news, I wanted to update and re-post these great clips from Green Screen.

********************************************************************

I will soon be posting about my love for the new version of the Price is Right. But until then, I wanted to post clips from Drew Carey's Green Screen Show (the ultimate show for stoners...is how Drew describes it) that aired on the WB a few years ago.

They star the current TPIR host Drew Carey and announcers Jeff Davis and Brad Sherwood. Judging from these clips, Jeff Davis is pretty much the funniest person on the planet.

The Price is Oh So Right...

During my nearly 33 years on this Earth, my love of The Price is Right has been referred to as "unhealthy" more than once. But, I can't help it. I can't think of a better way to start my day than with a plethora of pricing games, dining room sets, showcase showdowns and trips to New York City.

My love affair with TPIR began as a pre-schooler circa 1981, when daily viewings featured a dark-haired Bob Barker and Johnny Olson as the announcer. The guys in the crowd still wore suits and ties. The women contestants wore dresses. Everything was orange, brown, and red. Holly was so pretty.

JCPenney Catalog Circa 1977

I received this in my email this week (thanks Chris)...and I had to share it. I think I remember being offended by this stuff, even in utero.

Last weekend I put an exhaust fan in the ceiling for my wife's grandfather. While my wife's brother and I were fitting the fan in between the joists, we found something under the insulation. What we found was this:

A JC Penney catalog from 1977. It's not often blog fodder just falls in my lap, but holy hell this was two solid inches of it, right there for the taking. I thumbed through it quickly and found my next dining room set, which is apparently made by adding upholstery to old barrels:
